5 Ways to Strengthen Your Faith and Grow Closer to God
Faith does not have to stay weak. Your faith can grow stronger as you learn to trust God each day.
You do not need to know everything about the Bible before your faith can grow. You simply need to begin walking with God one day at a time.
Here are five simple, biblical ways to strengthen your faith and grow closer to God.
How Can I Strengthen My Faith in God?
You strengthen your faith by spending time with God and learning to trust Him.
Start with five simple habits: read God's Word, pray, obey what God teaches you, remember what God has done, and stay close to other believers.
Strong faith usually does not grow overnight. It grows through small steps of trust taken day after day.
1. Spend Time in God's Word
Romans 10:17 (NKJV)
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
God's Word helps your faith grow.
The more you learn God's truth, the more you understand who He is. You begin to see His love, His promises, His wisdom, and His faithfulness.
You do not need to read many chapters every day. Start small.
Read a few verses. Think about what they mean. Ask God to show you how to live what you read.
The goal is not just to finish a Bible reading plan. The goal is to know God better.
Try this today: Read one chapter from the Gospel of John. Ask, “What does this teach me about Jesus?”
This expands directly on the first practice in your PDF, including its use of Romans 10:17.
2. Pray About Everything
Prayer is simply talking with God.
Do not wait until life falls apart before you pray.
Talk to God about your fears. Tell Him about your family, work, choices, needs, and future.
Thank Him for what He has already done.
Prayer teaches you to depend on God instead of depending only on yourself.
You may not always know what to say. That is okay. God is not looking for fancy words. Come to Him with an honest heart.
Try this today: Spend five quiet minutes with God. Thank Him for one thing, tell Him about one concern, and ask Him to help you trust Him.

3. Obey What God Teaches You
Faith is more than believing something in your mind. Real faith changes the way you live.
When God's Word shows you what is right, take action.
If God teaches you to forgive, forgive.
If He shows you that something in your life needs to change, take a step toward change.
If He tells you to love someone, show that person love.
You will not obey perfectly. But every step of obedience teaches you to trust God more.
Do not only ask, “What does this Bible verse mean?”
Also ask:
“What should I do because of what God has shown me?”
Try this today: Think about one thing God has already shown you in Scripture. Take one step of obedience.
4. Remember What God Has Done
Today's trouble can make you forget yesterday's blessings.
Stop and remember how God has helped you before.
Think about prayers He has answered.
Remember doors He has opened.
Remember times He gave you strength during a hard season.
Remember people He brought into your life at the right time.
Looking back at God's faithfulness can give you courage to trust Him today.
You may even want to keep a small notebook. Write down answered prayers, blessings, and moments when you saw God at work.
Then, when your faith feels weak, read those pages again.
Try this today: Write down three ways God has helped you in the past.
5. Stay Close to Other Believers
You were never meant to follow Jesus alone.
God gives us other believers to help us grow.
We need Christians who will pray with us, encourage us, teach us, and sometimes challenge us.
Hebrews 10:24 (NKJV) says:
“And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works.”
Find believers who want to follow Jesus.
Spend time with them.
Pray together. Read Scripture together. Talk about what God is teaching you.
And remember—you can encourage someone else too.
Strong Christian relationships help us keep moving forward when life gets difficult.
Try this today: Contact one Christian friend and ask, “How can I pray for you this week?”
