How to Spend Time With God Every Day
Spiritual growth begins with spending time with God.
Think about a close friendship. A friendship grows as two people spend time together.
Your relationship with God also grows as you make time for Him.
Jesus gave us an example. He often went to a quiet place to pray and spend time with His Father.
You can do the same.
You do not need a complicated plan. You do not need to begin with an hour.
Start small.
Find a quiet place. Open your Bible. Read. Pray honestly. Listen. Obey what God shows you.
Then come back tomorrow and do it again.
John 15:4 (NKJV)
“Abide in Me, and I in you.”
God wants more than a few minutes of your attention on Sunday.
He wants you to walk with Him every day.
How Do I Spend Time With God Every Day?
Keep it simple.
Find a quiet place.
Open your Bible.
Read a short passage.
Think about what it says.
Talk honestly with God.
Listen to what His Word is teaching you.
Choose one truth to obey.
You do not need a perfect routine.
You only need a place to begin.
Start with ten or fifteen minutes. What matters most is making time with God part of your daily life.
1. Make Time With God a Daily Habit
One of the hardest parts of spiritual growth is being consistent.
Life gets busy.
There are jobs to do.
People to care for.
Phones to check.
Problems to solve.
That is why it can help to choose a regular time for God.
Maybe you spend time with Him before breakfast.
Maybe you pray during lunch.
Maybe your quiet time happens before bed.
The exact time is not the most important thing.
Making God a priority is what matters.
And if you miss a day, do not quit.
Start again.
God is not asking you to perform for Him. He wants you to walk with Him.
Your next step
Choose one time tomorrow when you will spend ten minutes alone with God.
2. Begin With a Simple Plan
Spending time with God becomes easier when you know what you are going to do.
Keep your plan simple.
Find a quiet place.
Open your Bible.
Read a short passage.
Think about what it says.
Talk with God about what you read.
You do not need the perfect chair, room, Bible-reading plan, notebook, or schedule.
Those things can help, but they are not the goal.
The goal is spending time with God.
Start where you are.
3. Give God Your Full Attention
Distractions can make quiet time difficult.
Phones, television, work, worries, and unfinished jobs can pull your mind in many directions.
For a few minutes, put those things aside.
Silence your phone if you can.
Find a quiet place.
Ask God to quiet your heart.
Then focus on Scripture and prayer.
Your mind may wander.
Do not give up.
Bring your thoughts back to God.
Learning to focus takes time.
Your next step: Put your phone somewhere you cannot easily reach during your time with God.
4. Read God's Word Slowly
You do not need to read many chapters every day.
Start with a short passage.
Read slowly.
Think about what the words mean.
Ask:
What does this teach me about God?
Is there something I need to trust?
Is there something I need to obey?
Is there something I need to change?
Is there something I can thank God for?
The goal is not simply to finish your reading.
Let God's Word shape the way you think and live.
5. Talk to God About Real Life
Prayer does not need to sound fancy.
Tell God what is really happening.
Thank Him for something good.
Tell Him where you are worried.
Ask Him for help with a choice.
Pray for someone who is hurting.
Confess when you have done wrong.
Tell Him about your fears, problems, hopes, and needs.
God already knows your heart.
You can speak honestly with Him.

6. Take One Truth Into Your Day
Your time with God should not end when you close your Bible.
Before you finish, choose one truth to carry with you.
Maybe you need to trust God instead of worry.
Maybe you need to forgive.
Maybe you need to serve someone.
Maybe you need to wait.
Maybe you need to speak with kindness.
Write the truth down if that helps you remember it.
Jesus said:
“Abide in Me, and I in you.” — John 15:4 (NKJV)
Staying close to Jesus should shape the way we live after our quiet time is over.
Your next step: Before you close your Bible, write one sentence: “Today I will ______.”
7. Keep Showing Up
Some days your time with God may feel meaningful.
Other days may feel ordinary.
Keep showing up.
A strong relationship is built through time, not one special moment.
If you miss a day, begin again.
Do not let guilt keep you away from God.
Open your Bible tomorrow and start fresh.
Ten faithful minutes can grow into a life of walking with God.
Read His Word. Pray honestly. Listen. Obey what He shows you. Then return the next day.
Small daily steps can lead to deep spiritual growth.
